You asked and we listened!
The Transition Pathway Initiative Centre (TPI Centre) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) has released new tool kits to support sovereign investors and other stakeholders to navigate our data.
New Assessing Sovereign Climate-related Opportunities and Risks (ASCOR) tool kits
- The ASCOR Explainer Series provides an overview of how sovereign climate targets and policies are assessed in the ASCOR framework. The series consists of 14 videos and accompanying slides.
- ASCOR in practice: Use cases and insights outlines applications of the ASCOR tool and is organised by two user types: investors and sovereign bond issuers.
The ASCOR project was launched by investors who wanted comprehensive and comparable assessments on how sovereigns are managing the low-carbon transition as well as the physical risks stemming from climate change.
As its academic research expert, the TPI Centre at LSE assesses national climate actions against the ASCOR framework, which was developed in consultation with the ASCOR project supporters as well as through public feedback sessions. In its landmark
new assessments of 70 countries, the TPI Centre covered 85% of global greenhouse gas emissions, 90% of global GDP and 100% of three main sovereign bond market indices. You can access a synthesis of the assessments in this
State of Transition in Sovereigns 2024 report.
In developing
ASCOR in practice: Use cases and insights, the TPI Centre collected input and quotes from Amundi Asset Management, Colchester Global Investors, Ninety One, PPM America, Inc. and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), as well as country representatives of Chile, Germany, the Republic of Korea and Uruguay. We take this opportunity to thank them as well as Claudia Gollmeier and Esther Law, who are two of the co-chairs of the ASCOR project, for their time and support.
Finally, we welcome your feedback. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.
