This consultation report seeks feedback on the banking tool and explains proposed changes to the Net Zero Banking Assessment Framework

The Banking tool: 2025 consultation report sets out proposed updates to its banking assessment framework and online tool, supporting the evaluation of banks’ alignment with the Paris Agreement and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The report invites feedback from investors, banks and other stakeholders to ensure the framework remains decision-useful, transparent and relevant.
The consultation focuses on potential enhancements to the Net Zero Banking Assessment Framework (NZBAF) and the Carbon Performance for Banks methodology, which together assess banks’ climate commitments, emissions disclosures, sectoral targets and decarbonisation strategies. It reviews how the framework is currently used and proposes refinements across key assessment areas such as climate governance, transition strategy, financed emissions and climate solutions.
As a consultation report, the publication plays a key role in shaping future iterations of the TPI Centre’s banking tools by gathering stakeholder input on methodology, data presentation and usability. It supports the ongoing development of a robust, investor-led framework for assessing the climate alignment and carbon performance of global banks.
